Networking For Business Owners In Surrey Heath Borough
The British Heart Foundation has selected Camberley as a Heart Town.
Heart Towns is a new scheme where communities come together to help beat heart disease. Heart Towns benefit from a range of resources and education programmes, so that everyone can take practical steps to improve their heart health. Heart Towns also host a wide range of events and activities, such as Heart Town rides, walks or runs.
SHBN is supporting the British Heart Foundation. We have set an immediate goal to raise £1000 during 2012. We’re confident we can exceed this target with regular contributions and with various events and initiatives.
There is a Facebook page for BHF Camberley. Please go to this page and ‘Like’ to help to support this initiative. Hopefully, we can all do our part in combating the effects of heart disease.

We are supporting the British Heart Foundation, as follows:
At Professional Wealthcare, we provide Critical illness Cover to provide you with a lump sum in the event of various serious illnesses, including heart related medical conditions.
We will be donating £50 to the British Heart Foundation for every critical illness plan set up during 2012 that comes to us via this article. For your plan to qualify, simply quote ‘British Heart Foundation’ when you contact us.
We trust this will not only give you the financial protection you require, but also go some way towards combating the effects of heart disease.
The Camberley Expo comes to town next week and Camberley’s best local networking group has a stand.
We’d like you to visit the SHBN stand, where you can meet some of the businesses that meet every Wednesday morning, to help each other and hand out referrals.
Over 40 local businesses are taking stands and the organiser John Udal from the BestOf Camberley, which is a site that promotes local businesses has organised some great speakers.
First up is Nigel Botteril, the founder of The Best Of Franchise operation along with 6 million pound businesses in the last 10 years.
Nigel will be giving one of his inspirational talks, designed to give you a boost to your business. I have seen him talk many times and I am always pleasantly surprised at some of the information he gives about growing your business locally to greater heights..So don’t miss this
Also you’ll hear from Local Businessman John Fairley, who has worked with local and national business as an advisor. You can find out more about him here..
Also speaking on the day about why you need social media in your business is Ian Hardacre..
Ian is a business oriented director who has held managing director roles and has practical experience of operations, marketing, technical and HR director roles. He has over 35 years experience in Information Technology and consultancy. He is now providing consultancy on Social Media for national as well as local companies.
Find out more about Ian from his Social Media site
We look forward to seeing you there..
I will also be exhibiting, so if you need any marketing advice using the internet, this is something I specialise in..

Networking in Camberley, just got lighter.
I’ve got to say that I don’t always fancy a cooked breakfast in the mornings, what with all those health warnings we often get, you can’t eat this or you can’t eat that.
So it gives me great pleasure to tell you that, there is now a fresher, lighter alternative, but the big fry up is available by self service
3 weeks ago the Camberley Heath Golf Club, where we hold our weekly meetings, started giving us fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, toast and other little suprises too.
So if you fancy coming to a networking meeting, where real business referrals get real business and you want a choice of breakfasts, come and join us any Wednesday morning from 7.30.
If you want to come please email our secretary Linda home-surfers@virginmedia.com or call her 07973 753 570 or 01276 512710
Since the Surrey Heath Business Networking group was launched over 2 years ago by several former Business Referral Exchange members, we’ve gone from strength to strength. Our weekly Wednesday morning breakfast meeting regularly has more than 15 members present and usually a few guests as well to enjoy a hearty ‘Full English’.
Our current venue is the delightful Camberley Heath Golf Club, located in Golf Drive, just off the A325 Portsmouth Road in Camberley. Starting at 07:30 and finishing at 09:00, our weekly meeting begins with a coffee or tea and a chance to ‘mingle’ with other members and guests. At around 08:00, we’ll all sit down for a buffet breakfast with a selection of cooked items as well as toast and jam. Sometimes there’s even cereal, fruit and pastries as an extra treat!
After breakfast, all members and guests have an opportunity to spend 60 seconds (and sometimes a bit longer) letting everyone else know what they do, and what type of referrals they’re ideally looking for in order to grow their business. We have a wide range of businesses represented within our current members, but are always looking for other professions to join us that are not currently on board.
After a refil of coffee, tea or juice, it’s normally the turn of one member to have an extended talk about their business. This will typically last 10 minutes and is generally followed by a quick Q and A session.
At around 08:45, it’s time for what is possibly the most important part of the meeting – the ‘referrals session’. During this, our referrals secretary will pass around the table and members will be given the opportunity to pass business between other members of the group and also from ‘third parties’ such as mamber’s families and other business contacts/customers. One particularly pleasing aspect that differentiates the SHBN group from some other business networking groups is that there’s no pressure to generate referrals. Because of that, wetend to find that the referrals passed between members are genuine and will result in actual business being conducted, as opposed to just ‘leads’ and ‘tips’ that fill the time and avoid any shame at some groups.
Of course, the other thing our members enjoy compared to other national franchised groups is the lack of joining and membership fees. Often, these ‘up front’ fees can total more than £700 a year, which does put-off a lot of potential new members, particularly if money is a bit tight.
We have NO joining or membership fees and all we ask is a monthy committment of £55.00 (payable by standing order) to cover the cost of your weekly breakfast and subscription to our website.
If you’re interested in seeing what we’re about, why not drop us an email via our website or give me (Dave Goodman) a call on 07970 123109.
